Powerful Configuration, but was Inconsistent
We implemented this to support a SharePoint application that was built before we started using the workflow capabilities. It was easy to setup, and we found the customization very powerful, but it frequently stopped working and the logs even at full sensitivity couldn't tell us why all of the changes/events were being ignored.
Even though we purchased support, we received very little help and no definitive fix. We eventually stopped using it since the users couldn't depend on it.
Looked good in the demo, but didn't work for us
The demo looked pretty good, but our trial did not go as planned. Unfortunately our AD setup was too complicated so the sync process took about 22 hours to run. For this tool to work well, it needs to be run daily.
Also, it is/was not able to target just specific branches of the overall AD. In my case the users supported were on only two of the dozens of domains connected at the root. This should not be an issue in a small, centralized organization.
Very Robust, Comprehensive Solution
I used this for a few years in a previous position. We initially implemented the 3.x version when we started to have problems with our backups when the content databases exceeded 40Gb. They system was easy to implement, and I was up and running within an hour or two.
This was one of the first to offer Item Level backup capabilities. I really like the options offered for granularity, frequency, etc.
This product served me very well. We continued our upgrades through the 4.x and into the current version. We later added additional modules like the archiving and disaster recovery that are now part of the base product.
A very reliable tool used in conjunction with Capture Server. Provides many of the classic document management features as well as some nice productivity features like Saved Searches for the knowledge workers.
Great Scanning Solutions
I've used this both with Capture Server as well as a stand alone product pushing documents to WSS Team Sites.
As a stand alone solution it is a fast reliable solution for adding scanned documents to SharePoint.
When connected with Capture Server it becomes even more powerful thanks to the extra features enabled to provide controlled list/lookups against other databases.
I worked on an implementation that helped to migrate from a proprietary Unix based system to KnowledgeLake's Capture Server and Imaging solutions. We initially implemented about 15 content types half of which were scanned images and half which were brought in electronically from an ERP system. Indexing and autoindexing was very powerful.
Once implemented about 2k documents a day were being added to the system, with no signs of strain from the load.
When there were configuration issues, we received very good support.
In addition, our users found it very easy to learn.
