Automatically set item level permissions, based on metadata fields. Define who has permission to your documents.
Microsoft SharePoint allows users to easily upload and download files through a web-based user interface. In Microsoft SharePoint it is possible to configure permissions on a document library or list. Setting permissions on an individual item is only possible when users do this manually. This requires more than average SharePoint knowledge. In most cases it isn’t desirable that users have the right to do so.
With Lacun Item Security it is possible to configure Rule Based Item Permissions based on metadata fields of an item, like document type or status. The value of the metadata field defines which users and/or user groups have access to this item. For example, a user only has access to a document type ‘letter’ when the status is ‘published’.
It is also possible to combine metadata fields and values to set permissions by using ‘and’ & ‘or’ statements. For example, a user can only access a document when the document status is ‘published’ and the document type is “contract”. Lacun Item Security supports “Generic rules” used in multiple sites, and on the other hand “Specific rules” which apply to a single list/Library.
